Takes a stain well. Responds well to steam bending but does take into account wood stability and movement when working with Beech as it does have a lot of movement in service. It is thought that early books were written on thin tablets of Beech wood and the name 'beech' is from the Anglo-Saxon word 'boc' which came from the English word 'book'
