Due to Dutch Elm Disease in recent years, this timber is now in short supply in some parts of the country. It is however, a lovely timber with a reddish brown colour.
Turns well but may be a little more difficult to finish than other timbers.

Jonny's Notes
Will need sanding sealer as open grain. Interlocked grain means it is resistant to splitting. It responds well to steam bending and holds nails and screws well. A very useful wood whose durability is most marked in water. Introduced to England from the Mediterranean by the Romans, who used the tree to support grape vines.
