Will need sanding sealer as open grain. Responds well to steam bending and has good resistance to decay. Oak has long been valued for its strong, durable timber and was used by the English Royal Navy to build their vessels. Oak features in Greek and Norse myths and the Bible and is worshipped by the druids, perhaps due to its capability of living for hundreds of years.
