Responds well to steam bending and is shock resistant. It is the old 'wood of war' and was used to furnish the 'shield' and the 'spear'. In Norse mythology the first man was made from Ash and the tree of the world is also thought to be an Ash tree. In British folklore the Ash is credited to have protective properties.
